German Lutheran Trinity Church, East Melbourne

German Lutheran Trinity Church, East Melbourne

Special feature

Dry walls (after significant water damage)
brilliant colours (reflecting the light from lead windows)
significant improvement of indoor air quality

Project Description:

The Lutheran Church, built in 1874 in East Melbourne, is an impressive, heritage listed bluestone building.

A custom colour to match the original was used.

The Result:
  • Now breathable surface

  • Warmer walls

  • Air Quality (mould and musty odour is gone)

  • Brilliance of colours

The Challenge:

The church had been in need of renovation – the internal paint had been bubbling and peeling off in a lot of places as the bluestone walls held a lot of moisture, which had seeped through to the surface, mould had started to appear, leaving a musty smell.

The Solution:

MIG –ESP active coating was chosen for it’s ability to actively dry the walls, eliminating the mould issue. The highly reflective walls are not only bright, but are much warmer and provide a better room climate. The musty smell is gone, very low VOCs and anti-microbial properties provide a healthier environment.

This has been the most cost effective solution as several challenges have been solved with a coat of MIG-ESP. As MIG Active Coating is moisture regulating, this is a durable solution.

Exterior and Roof coated

Project Description:

Surface temperature reduction >25°C
no further bird droppings as seagulls are deterred from returning.

Project Description:

This 1500m2 roof was heavily impacted by bird droppings from seagulls. With Rooflect we solved several issues:

Significantly less heat impact, temperature drop of approx 25°C on the surface (ambient temperature 38°C, overcast day), significantly cooler on the floor below, with no A/C running.

Seagulls are deterred from returning due to the highly reflective surface. The issue with bird droppings is solved.

the roof is now protected from corrosion.

MIG-ESP Exterior applied by abseiling, Roof coated with MIG-Rooflect by spraying.

Project Description:

An Office Building on one of the busiest through fares in northern Melbourne. A scaffold was not possible on the 4 lane road with a busy footbath. To improve energy efficiency a simple, quick method was required. MIG-ESP Exterior was the ideal, most cost effective way.

Also the roof is beeing coated with MIG-Rooflect, this is being applied by spraying.

Solar panels will be installed on this roof.
Due to lower roof temperatures, panel performance is expected to improve at approximately 0.4% / °C.

35% Energy Savings
Dry walls eliminates odours in laundry
allows for smaller combi boiler for heating

Project Description:

1978 apartment building with 7 units, total floor space 554m2

Energy consumption reduced from 161,000kWh/yr to 56,000kWh/yr
(2010 to 2016)

Due to the reduced heating energy demand, a much smaller heating system (combi boiler for hydronic heating) could be installed, accounting for additional savings.

Internal coating with MIG-ESP® resulted in 35% energy savings (adjusted for other measures taken, i.e. new heating system). Payback period was 2.7 years, compared to more than 50 years for traditional insulation.

The laundry (with 7 washing machines and dryers, as well as clothes lines) has dry walls and not the usual soapy smell.

MIG-ESP® Exterior instead of mineral wool
construcion time reduced by 2.5 months
bright and long lasting
No discolouration
Non-flamable

Project Description:

The ToHa Building in Tel Aviv, Israel is a mind-blowing structure, designed by architects Ron Arad and Asa Bruno. The design and the quality of the execution makes it one of the most desired work places in Tel Aviv.

The use of high-tech, including the use of MIG-ESP coating and the special green approach of Arad and Asa, awarded Arad’s architecture studio with international recognition and a LEED platinum certification.

for more information please see the ToHa website: ToHa Building (gav-yam.co.il)

MIG-ESP Exterior replaced mineral wool as insulator, achieving very low heat transfer and saving time and money during installation. The ease and simplicity saved 2.5 months in construction time. At the same time MIG-ESP Exterior provides a long lasting surface with brilliant colours.

Replaced mineral wool to improve insulation and remove mould and fungi.

Project description

The Siemens Building in Jinshan, Shanghai was insulated by mineral wool which collected moisture, rendering the insulation useless.

Even with only 4% of moisture, the U-value halves, due to the high heat capacity and high heat conductivity of water. Also it is a breeding ground for mould and fungi.

The insulation was removed and the building was coated with MIG-ESP internally and externally.

Swimming Pool, Indian School Dubai, UAE

Moisture and mould issues removed with MIG-ESP
No smell of chlorine

Project Description:

After only two years of operation, the pool of the Bilva Indian School in Dubai, UAE, was in disrepair. Mould, flaky paint and general damage through moisture made the school pool non-operational.

After coating with MIG-ESP, the pool looks fresh, is free of mould and has no moisture issues. The strong odour of chlorine is gone. For several years, the pool is now a safe and healthy environment for students and staff.

Temperature reduction by 20°C at ambient temperature of 18°C

Project Description:

A small project demonstrates the effectiveness of Rooflect brilliantly: On an 18°C day, in 2pm winter-sun, the roof temperature of an adjacent roof of the same material is 38.5°C; whereas the pictured Rooflect coated roof is at 18.3°C (in the shade at 9.5°C).
In case you wonder why the roof is not exactly white: it is tinted to a very light grey (Quarzit 9080)
